A hidden gem in the edges of the Loop!

With the name like "U-City Grill", I almost mistook it for your average diner, and on top of it, the appearance inside leaves one second-guessing. Service was also a very somber experience as well as we were not greeted with a "hello", much less a smile.

HOWEVER, the food makes up for these short-comings! The spicy pork comes with a nice service of rice -- the perfect size for me, a small 5'3" girl. For an extra dollar you can add more meat to your dish which satisfied my brother's belly. The prices for the meals overall were not expensive or out of budget, perfect for your typical broke graduate student (aka me).

Definitely would recommend this place to people who are looking for:
    - cheap food
    - delicious traditional Korean food
    - not looking for great service or the cleanest place

    Enter at your own discretion.

Absolutely horrifying experience, wasn't expecting 5 star customer service based off of the reviews but we were shocked to have been met with the aggression we faced from the restaurant owner.

Would highly recommend joo joo over here, much better service, food, and overall atmosphere.

I took my grandparents from Korea here because they had wanted Korean food. Being one of the only Korean places in St. Louis we decided to check it out. We realized it was a little small and tried to rearrange the chairs to allow our family of 4 to fit into a small table, we decided it was a little tight, put the chairs back and left. As we were backing out, the restaurant owner, a man in his mid 50's came out and started to literally curse us out from across the parking lot. He screamed at us that we were rude for not letting him know we were leaving and that we had "messed up" his chairs.

He started cursing at my family and I, saying the customers inside had said that we had messed up the chairs. (Which we had fixed before leaving) we were so confused and went back in to ask the customer ourselves, with the restaurant owner still cursing at us for whatever reason. The customers told us that they had never said anything of the sort or even mentioned anything.

Very very confused and appalled by what just happened. Never going back and horrified by this man's aggressive actions to our family.

The vegetables in the bibimbap tasted and smelled very bad-as if some chemical disinfectant were not rinsed thoroughly from the grater. Yuck!

The beef and pork were pretty tasty, but I would not eat here again.

    Inexpensive, quick, delicious korean food!

I have a soft spot for hole in the wall diners. I also am a big fan of asian food. So this place was the perfect combination! Yes, the service is no nonsense, but the food is superb and to the point. I've had the bimibab and the bokumbop and both were phenomenal. If I had to choose one, I'd say go with the bokumbop but you really can't go wrong. This place hits the spot!

Mhmmm this place hit the spot.

The man behind the counter didn't acknowledge my presence when I came in and took his time completing the orders for the full bar of people before asking what I wanted.

I ordered the bibimbap with a side of kimchee and wow - so tasty and hearty. The egg was cooked perfectly and the marinade of the beef was just the slightest sweet to match the savory salted meat. Don't sleep on the kimchee. It's only a buck and it was incredible. After he cooked my order, the man went to the back and I didn't see him again. I think he was eating his dinner, so I chuckled to myself, put enough cash to cover my bill and then some (this place is super cheap for what you're getting by the way) and walked out.

This place is packed with charm and I love that it's a hidden gem just off the loop.
